Leadership Experience
Since 1975 Rollie has been the owner/operator of his family's farming business, Martin Dairy, in Hartford, Kansas. Once functioning as its namesake, Martin Dairy transitioned into a beef cow and crop operation in 2005, but retained its original name.
Rollie has been happily married to his wife Rosemary, a retired nurse, for forty-six years. They have raised four adult children - John, Julie, Beth, and Kristina - through whom they have been blessed with sixteen grandchildren spanning the ages of two to twenty-two. In 1973, Rollie received his Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics with a secondary education certificate from Newman University in Wichita, Kansas. During his time at Newman, Rollie served as vice-president of student council and class president his sophomore and senior years. After graduation, Rollie went on to spend two years teaching junior high mathematics and science before returning to Hartford to take over the family farming business. Rollie is a member of the inaugural graduating class of the Kansas Agricultural and Rural Leadership (KARL) training program (1992). KARL is a two-year program featuring seminars designed by Kansas State University. The program focuses on intensive leadership training and involves heavy travel throughout the many different regions of Kansas as well as interaction with national government leaders in Washington, DC, and international sessions in East and West Germany, Poland, and Czechoslovakia.
